What a ludicrous statement to think that students should choose to go to school when they want too!
Firstly, I believe that children today are not responsible enough to choose to go to school. School is very important for your future no matter what you choose to do. A quick survey of my class indicated that not even half would come to school and they have a great teacher, imagine the other classes.
Furthermore, many younger students may decide not to go to school, yet when they are older and realise their mistake, they will be too far behind and not be able to catch up. For example many parents I talk too confess, they wish they tried harder in school. Now if students have the option not to go this could cause a disastrous trend.
Also children are pains. Parents have so much to do that they could not possibly look after their kids twenty-four seven. My parents have a massive workload, my brothers and sisters and I being around, just make their work so much harder. Teachers get paid to put up with kids, so why should we take that away from them?
What about friends? School gives people a great way to make new friends. It is very hard to meet new people watching television at home by yourself. I often see people at school now, who struggle to make friends, mainly because they don’t go to school often enough. School is a great way to learn people skills and to get fit, which I believe is very important.
For the reasons I have listed above I feel that it would be a tremendous mistake to give students the right to choose if they want to go to school or not!
